Tim Killen joined Diablo Woodworkers after retiring from a career with Bechtel. By then he had made most of the furniture in his home, and most of the furniture in his children’s homes as well. In addition to being one of the Diablo Woodworkers most prolific master woodworkers, he has also contributed to the Bay Area woodworking community by teaching a wide range of woodworking classes through the Mount Diablo Adult Education program. These classes range from mastering hand tool techniques, finishing, SketchUp design and reproducing classic American furniture.

Tim’s extensive woodworking career includes building museum quality furniture reproductions - from a simple breadboard end table, progressing through a blanket chest and colonial cupboard, later to a Pembroke table and more recently, a Seymour secretary and bookcase, to name a few.

Join us on Wednesday, January 12th at 7PM on Zoom, for a retrospective of Tim’s life as a woodworker. We’ll start with a discussion about his focus of interest, namely his affinity for reproducing classical American furniture. We’ll also dig into his background and learn about where he looks for inspiration, who has most influenced him, and his process and principles of construction. Following the discussion, Tim will discuss several of his signature pieces that represent milestones in his development as a master woodworker.

Tim Killen is a graduate electrical engineer from Purdue University. He also has an MBA degree from Golden Gate University. He lives in Orinda, CA and some of his work can be viewed at http://killenwood.com
